Lower Rhine Tour 2026: Freedom for Art
40 groups of works, 40 art venues, 40 years of the Banana Sprayer
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Spraybanane and as a tribute to his home region, Thomas Baumgärtel is organising an exhibition tour of the Lower Rhine, visiting 40 art venues under the motto ‘Freedom for Art’. The artist, who is originally from Rheinberg in the Lower Rhine region, invites visitors on a journey through the Lower Rhine – on foot, by bike or by car – to showcase the diversity of art venues in the region and to present his entire body of work.
From May to September/October 2026, 40 museums, galleries and cultural institutions will present 40 groups of works spanning four decades of his career. Each participating venue has been assigned one of his groups of works. At Museum Schloss Moyland, this is the “Kings of Hearts”. The exhibition runs here from 7 June to 27 September 2026.
